Zero-touch Apple operations for tomedo practices
Macs arrive fully prepared. Your team signs in. Your practice runs.
TAPS, The Apple Practice Standard, is a defined operating state for practices running Mac, iPad and a tomedo server. Platform6 runs the platform and releases every version; your IT partner sells, installs and supports on site. No IT project, no improvisation, no surprises after updates.

- Model
- Monthly flat rate per device through your IT partner
- Scope
- Workstation Macs • tomedo server • iPads and iPhones • monthly report for the KBV directive

01 Starting point
The reality in many practices
More work, less clarity
- Every Mac set up by hand, every one different
- Printers, card readers and tomedo to be fixed after every update
- Dependency on individuals at the service provider
Operational risk
- Updates postponed for up to a year, for fear of the Monday after
- A device failure means an on-site visit and a stalled front desk
- Expired cards and stale backups surface only when it is too late; the KBV directive still demands evidence
02 What TAPS commits to your practice
Five commitments you can measure
| Commitment | What your team experiences | Measure |
|---|---|---|
| New Mac is ready to work | Unbox, Wi-Fi, sign in. tomedo connects to the server, printers are there. | under 30 minutes, no technician |
| Released versions only | No macOS update tomedo does not know. No dongle that goes silent after an update. | 100 % of devices on baseline |
| Updates under control | Security updates after testing, with a deadline. Major updates only after release by zollsoft and TAPS. | days until enforcement |
| Fast replacement | A pre-registered Mac from your partner's stock takes over the workstation. Data lives on the server. | under 4 hours |
| Evidence for the KBV | Monthly report on the IT security directive: encryption, updates, backups, permissions. Already there for the next audit. | report by the 5th working day |
Patient data stays in your practice. TAPS distributes configuration and reads device state, never treatment data. The practice remains owner of its devices. How this works technically is on the TAPS page (German).
03 Who TAPS is for
Good fit if
- tomedo is your central system
- You want new Macs without setup stress
- You don’t want dependency on individuals
- You do not want to assemble the KBV evidence yourself
Explicit boundaries
- No tomedo application support; that stays with zollsoft
- Connector, card terminals and firewall are observed, not changed
- No per-workstation special cases outside the practice model
- Not a classic IT project
04 Terms
What it costs
TAPS runs as a monthly flat rate per device rather than a project budget. Workstation Mac, tomedo server and mobile device have their own tiers; your IT partner sets the end-customer price and also provides hardware, on-site setup and spare stock. If there is no TAPS partner in your region yet, we tell you whether and when that becomes possible.
Next step
Briefly share: number of Macs, who supports your IT today, and what “ready-to-use” should mean for you. You’ll get a clear answer whether TAPS fits your practice and through which partner.
